The Charlotte James team

As you have no doubt guessed, the Studio was named after us. Following endless hours of hashing out ideas, we thought we would put our name to the services we offer. Charlotte James Studio was born. (That and James Charlotte just didn't have the right ring to it).

We first met while living and working in London. Charlotte was officially working as a waitress in a cocktail bar when I met her and I was just another suit working in the world of Finance, Life & Pensions.

Photography for me back then was an escapism from the rat race hustle and bustle the city offered up each day.

Eventually my love for capturing portraits sparked the idea of taking my passion of photography and developing it into a full time career.

So coinciding with our move back to Charlotte's home town of Beccles, we decided to open our own business offering services in what we both loved.

Photography for me and Entertainment, Singing and Events for Charlotte.

Fast forward to present day and our Beccles based Studio is now a hub for all things Portrait, Weddings and Print.

Over the last year and a half, we have both swapped skills with Charlotte now heading up our Restorations and ID photos. And I myself have taken my singing out of the shower and onto stages up and down East Anglia. Performing Crooner classics duetting with Charlotte. To comparing and performing in stage shows such as 'A Night at the Musicals'. And also gigging as part of a Doo-wop group, The Testostatones and Shanty group, The Rogues Shanty Buoys.

We also recently got engaged

In December 2017 whilst visiting London.

Charlotte had loved The Phantom of the Opera soundtrack since she was a small girl yet had never seen the show.

It was almost written for me to drop on one knee outside Her Majesty's Theatre in front of those queuing to see the show, before venturing inside ourself to watch the performance.

Coming from a performing arts background, I love everything to do with the stage.

I absolutely love entertaining and it’s great to be able to sing all over the country at all sorts of different events and stage productions.

I’ve always had an interest in photography and it’s fantastic to be able to work in this field, I’m always learning new and interesting ways of capturing an image as well as innovative digital techniques that help bring an image to life.

I’m in our studio most days meeting our clients and getting to know them. I’ve recently been working on restoring old, damaged photographs, giving them a new lease of life. It’s really heartwarming to see the looks on our clients faces when we present them with the finished image.

Having a background in print through my family’s business, I’m able to make sure that our service meets that of our clients expectations, giving them affordable, high quality printing that they will cherish for years to come.

I love a wedding and being able to be part of our client special day is superb. I’m always fixing dress hiccups and helping brides calm their nerves and for me it’s much more than just photographing a wedding. We really get a chance to get to know our couples and with James and I being recently engaged we soon will get the chance to feel those post wedding nerves too!

Running our own business allows us the freedom to do things our own way and focus on what’s important, our clients and making sure we deliver to our highest standards. We love what we do and wouldn’t have it any other way.

We are crazy cat people and the Photog minions are great at helping us through long editing sessions and keeping us entertained.

If we thought we could bring them with us to the studio without them escaping, we would do.
